Privacy policy

This policy explains what Truck Trailer Deals Inc ("we", "us") collects when you use Truck Trailer Deals: the website trucktrailerdeals.com, the iPhone and Android apps, and our emails, calls and texts. It also says what we do with it and the choices you have.

The short version

Truck Trailer Deals is a marketplace for commercial trucks and trailers. Buyers use it free; dealers and private sellers list their trucks and trailers.
You can search, call and text sellers without an account.
When you send a seller a message, that seller gets your name, phone and message, and nobody else.
We never sell your information, and we don't show ads that follow you around the internet.
Texts from us need your OK; reply STOP to any text to stop them all.
You can delete your account at any time, in the app, on the website, or without signing in.

What we collect

If you are a buyer

Nothing to search. Searching, opening listings, calling and texting a seller work without an account.
Your account (only if you sign in): your email address, and the name and phone number you choose to add. You sign in with a 6-digit code we email you; there are no passwords.
Saved trucks, saved searches and dealers you follow, and which email alerts you turned on.
Messages you send to a seller ("Is this still available?"): your name, phone number, how you like to be reached, your message, the listing, and the consent line you agreed to.
Reports you send about a listing.

If you sell (dealers and private sellers)

Your seller details: business or seller name, contact name, phone for buyers, email, address and map position, hours, website, and the people on your team.
Your listings: the VIN or serial number, the details and price you enter, and your photos. A private seller's spot on the map is rounded to about half a mile.
Buyers we sent you: the calls, texts and messages buyers sent you through Truck Trailer Deals, so we can show your results and work out your bill.
Plan and billing: your plan, founding price, any partner code, and billing dates. We don't take card payments yet; when we do, cards are handled by Stripe and we never see or keep your full card number.
Our contact with you: emails we sent (and whether they were opened or clicked), replies, unsubscribes, notes from our calls, and if you said yes to texts, when and to whom you said it. We don't record the sound of calls.
Public business facts: we make some dealer pages from public business information (name, address, phone, hours, website), taken from the dealer's own website or public business records, never from another marketplace. We write down where each fact came from.

From everyone who uses the website or the app

Activity counts: searches, listings opened, saves, and Call, Text and message taps, so sellers can see how their trucks do and so we can count the buyers we send. They are recorded with a random browser id, never with your name, phone or email. Phone numbers and emails typed into the search box are removed.
Approximate area: the town your network is in (rounded to about 7 miles), to show sellers where buyers are looking. Your network (IP) address is never stored; we keep only a scrambled version for 2 days to stop robots and abuse.
On your device: the website keeps you signed in (a sign-in cookie for 7 days), remembers your recent searches and the browser id above, and keeps a partner code for 7 days if you opened a code link. We don't use advertising cookies, ad networks or third-party trackers.
Error reports: when a page breaks, the website sends an error report (Sentry) with the error and the page address. Names, emails, phone numbers and codes are removed first.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, we record only Call, Text and message taps (needed to count the buyers we send), with an id that lasts for that visit only, and no place, referrer or campaign.

Your location

We use the city or ZIP you type to show trucks, trailers and dealers near you.
The website uses the approximate town your network is in (see above). It never asks your device for its exact location.
The iPhone and Android apps do not ask for your location.
We don't track where you go.

How we use it

To run Truck Trailer Deals: search, listings, dealer pages, sign-in, saved trucks and searches, and messages to sellers.
To send you what you asked for: sign-in codes, alerts for saved searches and price drops, and copies of your messages.
To show sellers their results (views, saves, calls, texts and messages) and to count the buyers we send them for billing.
To show sellers what buyers near them look for, only as totals for groups of at least 3 buyers, never who you are.
To check listings and photos, stop scams, spam and fake listings, and handle reports.
To contact sellers about their page and listings by email, phone and, if they agreed, text, as described below.
To fix problems, improve Truck Trailer Deals, and follow the law.

The seller you contact. A seller sees your details only when you call, text or message that seller. A message goes to that one seller, by email and in their Inquiries list. We never share your number with other sellers.
Everyone sees what a seller puts in a listing or on a dealer page (name, phone for buyers, address, hours, trucks, photos and prices).
Our team sees only what their job needs; access is checked by the database.
Service providers who run parts of Truck Trailer Deals for us, under contract, only to provide their service:
- Hosting: Vercel (website) and Supabase (database and sign-in)
- Photo storage: Cloudflare
- Texting: Twilio (sign-in codes and alerts by text, once texts start)
- Email: Resend (codes, alerts, messages to sellers), and Google Workspace and Smartlead (our emails to dealers)
- Payments: Stripe (card payments, once we start taking them online)
- Maps: MapTiler (it receives the map area shown, not your account)
- Error tracking: Sentry (no personal details)
- Apps: Expo, Apple and Google (delivering the app and its updates)
The law: if we must, to answer a valid legal request, or to protect someone's safety.
A new owner: if Truck Trailer Deals Inc is sold or merged, this policy keeps applying to your information.

We do not sell or share personal information (including for targeted advertising), and we have not done so in the last 12 months.

Text messages (SMS)

Program name: Truck Trailer Deals alerts. We text only people who agreed to get texts from us:

Sign-in codes: one text each time you ask for a code.
The app link: one text, when you ask for it on the Get the app page.
Saved-search alerts: when a new match is listed, at most one text a day.
Sellers: the link to check and claim your dealer page, and replies about your page and listings, only after you said yes to texts on a call with our team.
Offers: at most 2 a month.

How you agree: by asking for a code or the app link with your mobile number, by turning on text alerts, or, for sellers, by saying yes to texts on a call. We record the number, the date and time, and how you agreed.
How often: message frequency varies, within the limits above.
Cost: Message and data rates may apply.
Stop: reply STOP to any text to stop all texts. We send one message to confirm, then no more. Reply START to join again.
Help: reply HELP, or email support@trucktrailerdeals.com.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Until our texts are switched on, sign-in codes and alerts come by email.

Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

When you message a seller, you agree that seller may call or text you about that listing from their own phone. Those texts come from the seller, not from us; reply STOP to the seller to stop them.

Emails and phone calls

Buyers get the emails they asked for: sign-in codes, alerts and copies of their messages. Turn alerts off in Saved or Account.
We email dealers about their free dealer page at most 3 times. Every email has our postal address and an unsubscribe link that works at once; reply "remove" and we take the page down the same day.
Sellers get alerts about buyers at once, one results email a month (or every 3 months, or never, as they choose), billing notices, and at most one other email a week.
Our team calls dealers during business hours. Say "don't call again" and we never call that number again.

How long we keep it

Your account, saved trucks, saved searches and messages you sent: until you delete your account. Then deleted within 30 days.
Listings and photos: while the listing is up and for as long as the seller's account is open; a seller can delete them at any time.
Activity counts: the detailed records for 90 days; after that only daily totals without any browser id.
Buyers counted for a seller: kept for the seller's results and bills; the browser id, account and phone links on them are wiped after 90 days.
Text consent records, STOP and unsubscribe lists: at least 5 years, so we can prove consent and never contact you after you said stop.
Billing records: 7 years, for tax law.
Records of privacy requests (like a deletion request): 24 months, as California law asks.
Error reports: about 90 days. Backups: replaced within 30 days.

Your choices and rights

See and download your information: Account, or "Download a copy of my information" on this page.
Correct it: Account → Edit details. Sellers change their page in the Dealer area.
Delete it: see Delete my account.
Stop texts (reply STOP), stop emails (the unsubscribe link, or switch alerts off in Account) or stop calls (tell us "don't call again").
Stop activity counts: turn on Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track in your browser.
Or email privacy@trucktrailerdeals.com. We may need to confirm it is really you (for example with a code to your email) before we show or delete anything. You can ask someone to act for you; we will check they have your permission.
We answer within 45 days and will never treat you worse for using these rights.

California residents

California law (CCPA, as changed by CPRA) gives you the rights above: to know what we collect and why, to access, correct and delete it, and to say no to its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of; we also treat Global Privacy Control as an opt-out. In the last 12 months we collected these kinds of information, for the purposes and from the sources described above:

Identifiers: name, email, phone number, account id, a random browser id.
Commercial information: listings, saved trucks and searches, messages to sellers, plans and billing status.
Internet activity: searches, listings opened, and Call, Text and message taps.
Approximate location: the town you type, or your network's town (about 7 miles). We don't collect precise location.
Photos that sellers add to their listings.
Business contact information of dealers, from public sources and from our calls and emails.

We don't collect sensitive personal information as the law defines it. We disclose information only to the people and service providers listed in "Who sees it". California residents may also ask how we shared information for direct marketing ("Shine the Light"): we don't share it with others for their marketing.

Children

Truck Trailer Deals is for people buying and selling commercial trucks and trailers. It is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has given us information, email privacy@trucktrailerdeals.com and we will delete it.

Security

Everything travels encrypted (HTTPS).
Privacy rules are enforced inside the database, not only on screens: for example, a seller can only see the messages sent to that seller.
We do not use passwords: you sign in with a code sent to your email.
Seller photos are kept in private storage and checked before buyers see them.
No system is perfectly safe. If something goes wrong that affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.

Delete your account

In the app: Account → Delete my account. On the website: Account → Delete my account. Without signing in: use our Delete my account page, or email privacy@trucktrailerdeals.com. We finish within 30 days. That page says what is deleted and what the law makes us keep.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change matters, we will tell you by email or in the app before it applies.
